GOD CREATED YOU FOR SIGNIFICANT WORK AND HE WILL EQUIP YOU FOR IT!
Ephesian 2:10 says:
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Many people at one time or another have heard these words, "Aren't you a piece of work!" The person saying it doesn't mean it as a compliment. It's meant to hurt because that person thinks you're a messed up project, a botched job. But you will never hear those words used that way when Jesus looks at you. You'll only hear, "You're my piece of work, and I never mess up or botch anything I put my hand to. You are a masterpiece in the making." That's what it means when it says that we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus.
The scripture goes on to say that we are created to do good work, and that God prepared that work for us before we were born. So God created you for significance, and He'll equip you for it.
IT'S FOR OUR EQUIPPING...
- THAT THE WRITER OF HEBREW PRAYS FOR EVERY CHRISTIAN:
May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Heb 13:20)
- THAT GOD GIVES US HIS WORD:
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2Ti 3:16)
- THAT GOD GIVES US HIS GRACE:
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2Co 9:8)
- THAT GOD GIVES US HIS HOLY SPIRIT:
Then Moses said to the Israelites, “See, the Lord has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts. (Ex 35:30-31)
- THAT GOD GIVES US HIS GIFTS:
Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant…. (1Co 12:1)
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. (1Co 12:4-5)
We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. (Ro 12:6-8)
- THAT GOD GIVES US EACH OTHER:
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one anotherand all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Heb. 10:24-25)
The Day that's approaching is the Day of the return of Jesus Christ, when the curtain of history will drop, and our work on earth will cease and we'll each stand before the King of Kings and give an account of what we did with the time given us. God has called us to join Him in pushing back the darkness with His light, in confronting the lies of the enemy with His truth, in bringing love where there is hatred, and compassion where there is coldness. In short we are to be available to God to work out the Lord's Prayer, where we declare and worship the holiness of our Father's name on earth as it is in heaven, where we help usher in His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven, where we carry out God's will on earth as it is in heaven.
Below you will find some resources to help you find ways to enter into the Kingdom work God has for you.
